I visited Lakewood Park in Statesville, NC on September 13, 2014. It had rained more than an inch the night before. In spite of the rain, the night before the park was in very good shape. There was very little mud and no standing water. I have visited this park several times over the years. It has always been well cared for by the City of Statesville. The walking trails are nearly all paved with asphalt and in good shape. There were a few potholes but not a problem. The shelters (2) were full of people so I could not inspect them closely but they looked to be in good shape. The restrooms were open and old but clean. The playgrounds were a very popular spot and in good shape. They were updated with kid-safe features and mulch bedding for safety. Wayne McBryde Best of Lake Norman |
